Friday, June 13, 1997: The day Hockey Town changed forever.  We will always believe and have faith.
The Red Wings started the game playing solid, but they couldn't play the whole 60 minutes as the New Jersey Devils won game 2 of the series by a 4-1 score.  The Wings opened the scoring early in the first when Pavel Datsyuk scored his 2nd of the year, but that was all the Wings would get however.  Jason Arnott would tie up the game with about 5 minutes to go to make it 1-1 at the 1st intermission.  The Devils continued to score often in the second with goals by Andreas Salomonsson, Jay Pandolfo, and another by Jason Arnott to make it 4-1 at the end of the second.  There was no scoring by either team in the 3rd period.  Wings goalie Dominik Hasek stopped 25 shots as the Wings were once again outshot miserably 29-17.

This was the Red Wings first loss in regulation since November 4th, when the Wings lost a close game to the Chicago Blackhawks 5-4.

Maxim Kuznetsov also returned to the lineup in New Jersey.  This was the first time he played since suffering a wrist injury about 2 months ago.

The next game for Detroit will be on Wednesday, December 5 when the Wings return home to play the much anticipated game versus the Colorado Avalanche.  The game can only be seen nationally on ESPN, with coverage beginning at 8 PM.
